Community and Issue Meeting Summaries

Over the past month, BVSCA leadership and membership has met with several community partners in relation to new and ongoing projects in our neighborhood. Brief summaries of these meetings are below:

  • 10/6 WonderKids application – Henry Staples met with Paulina Enriquez re: the childcare use agreement application for 907 N. Quincy (prior United Bank). The center would take up to 35 children, ages 0-5, and would provide a Spanish immersion program. This application may be on the consent agenda of the  December 2021 County Board meeting.
  • 10/10 Lubber Run Watershed Group – Met w/ David Smith to understand initiative. They have promised to keep BVSCA included in discussions. In BVSCA, most land west of N. Quincy St is part of Lubber Run watershed. Increased stormwater management were approved of late by County.
  • 10/12 Ballston Macy’s Redevelopment – BVSCA representatives met w/ Insight (developers) and their Counsel for project summary:
    16 floors;
    2 grocer/parking;

    555 market rate units; of those,
    236 allowed through 118 CAF (in perpetuity) via TDR (2:1 ratio) north of Columbia Pike.
    County is the one pushing for reduced parking space ratios (.33 residential).

    4k est. trips/day
    multimodal breakout?).
    Waiting for County to accept application.

    36-month build out.

Salesforce Migration and Upcoming Membership Campaigns

BVSCA submitted and was approved for a Salesforce Non-Profit Success Pack (NPSP) edition of Salesforce. This includes up to 10 free users within the Salesforce Cloud instance.

We have sorted emails and setup Case tracking. Any email sent to info@ballstoncivic.org will automatically create a case. We are currently working on migrating/scrubbing membership information over the next month.

Once this is complete, we will have better infrastructure for supporting new membership campaign(s) for 2022. We will be looking for volunteers to assist with these campaigns- please consider contributing to this initiative.
Upcoming 2x2s w/ County Board

BVSCA has requested 2 30-minute 2x2s w/ the County Board (2 attendees from the County Board, 2 attendees from BVSCA) to get their perspective on BVSCA and how it fits into the County’s goals. Henry Staples and Jim Rosen are scheduled for October 26th and November 19th.

While the meetings are brief and we have some general topics for discussion (e.g. census, housing, transportation), we are open to other topics as well. Contact us (info@ballstoncivic.org) if you have topics you would like to bring forward.

Featured Topics (~ 1 hour)
