This month’s meeting features both internal topics and guest speakers. We will start off at 7pm with a discussion of stormwater handling issues with John Ford, Chair of the Civic Federation Stormwater Group, and then conduct regular business. In the second half of the meeting, beginning at 8pm, Carmen Romero, CEO, and Ryan Nash, Senior Project Manager of the Arlington Partnership For Affordable Housing (APAH) will discuss affordable housing issues and developments in our neighborhood, and member Melissa Riggio will propose improvements to the Quincy Park glass case.

Community Discussion (~ 30 mins)

Stormwater Management

John Ford, Chair of the Civic Federation Stormwater Group will give a brief presentation about the current work of the Lubber Run Stormwater group. He will be joined by representatives from the newly forming Spout Run Stormwater Group.

He will lead a 15 minute discussion and question session after speaking.

As part of this discussion, we will talk about flooding problems in our neighborhood and discuss a request by the Lubber Run Watershed Group for BVSCA to sign on to a letter on stormwater and suggested County action related to the upcoming CIP request.

We will review and approval the draft minutes from our January 2022 Membership Meeting.

Treasurer’s Report

Our Treasurer, Giang Dang, will give us a brief on our financial situation and membership numbers.

Ballston BID

Our representative to Ballston Bid, Allyson Ugarte, will share news from Ballston BID.

The Ballston BID recently submitted a letter to the County Board encouraging them to apply for the NVTC grant in order to secure more funding for the planned Ballston Metro West Entrance. View the letter here (PDF).

Arlington Civic Federation (CivFed)

Neighborhood Conservation Advisory Committee (NCAC)

We are currently seeking a member or members who wish to be BVSCA’s representative to NCAC. This is a great way to get more involved with a limited, once-monthly time commitment. If you are interested or for more information, please reach out to info@ballstoncivic.org.

APAH Neighborhood Project Updates

Carmen Romero, CEO, and Ryan Nash, Senior Project Manager of the Arlington Partnership For Affordable Housing (APAH) will provide more background on Arlington’s affordable housing needs and policy, as well as give updates about projects and areas of concern in our neighborhood.

Quincy Park Glass Case

Member Melissa Riggio will lead a discussion about improving the Quincy Park glass case. She is seeking input and potentially help from neighbors to bring this feature of our park up-to-date.

BVSCA Internal Committee Planning

If time allows after our featured topics, we will return to a discussion of BVSCA internal committee planning.
