This month’s meeting will feature 2022-2023 BVSCA elections, regular business, and discussions on ongoing neighborhood issues such as ART Buses on the Quincy / Buck site, YMCA redevelopment efforts, watershed working group updates, and the County’s proposed CIP.

We will review and approval the draft minutes from our April 2022 Membership Meeting.

Treasurer’s Report

Our Treasurer, Giang Dang, will give us a brief on our financial situation and membership numbers.

Ballston BID

Our representative to Ballston Bid, Allyson Ugarte, will share news from Ballston BID.

The Ballston BID recently submitted a letter to the County Board encouraging them to apply for the NVTC grant in order to secure more funding for the planned Ballston Metro West Entrance. View the letter here (PDF).

Arlington Civic Federation (CivFed)

Hear the latest news from BVSCA’s representatives to CivFed, Sharon Valencia, Adam Theo, and Nick Klissas.

Upcoming speakers

Discussion on speakers for 2022:

  • Jun: George Mason University: Representatives from GMU will discuss ongoing construction of the new Fuse building on the site of the old Kahn Department Store.

Elections

We’ll hold elections for next year’s BVSCA leadership positions, with our new year starting in June.  Positions include:

  • President,
  • Vice President,
  • Treasurer,
  • Corporate Secretary,
  • Executive Committee At Large Members (3),
  • Neighborhood Conservation Advisory Committee (NCAC) Representative, and
  • Arlington Civic Federation Representatives (multiple, including alternates).

We thank last year’s leaders and hope that they will want to continue in leadership roles, and at the same time we welcome new members and voices to take on leadership roles.  This is YOUR civic association.

ART Buses on Quincy / Buck Site Update

Maurya Meiers will brief members on updates to the ongoing effort to move the ART Bus fleet parking and storage to the Quincy / Buck Site.

Stormwater Working Groups

Adam Theo and Jim Rosen will provide an update on the activities of the Lubber Run and Spout Run Stormwater Working Groups.

YMCA Redevelopment Update

Giang Dang will brief members on updates to the YMCA redevelopment project.

Proposed CIP Impact on BVSCA

Jim Rosen will brief members on the County’s proposed CIP as well as it’s potential impacts on BVSCA.

Missing Middle Discussion

As time allows, we will open a discussion of the County’s Missing Middle Housing Study and its current phase.
