Ballston-Virginia Square is an active member of the county’s Neighborhood Conservation (NC) Program. This program was established to improve and enhance Arlington neighborhoods. It empowers citizens to identify and plan projects in their own neighborhoods. The program provides funding for a variety of capital improvements.
Our current Neighborhood Conservation Plan from 1984 lays out proposed neighborhood improvements with respect to Land Use & Zoning, Parking & Traffic, Parks & Recreation, Community Services, Beautification, and Capital Improvements such as curbs, sidewalks and street lighting.
We have a neighborhood representative, Jim Rosen, on the Neighborhood Conservation Advisory Committee (NCAC). This committee serves as liaison between County staff and the neighborhood
regarding Neighborhood Conservation issues.
We have an on-going NC project for improvements to Oakland Park. More information on our Oakland Park project page. Below is a listing of our neighborhood’s past NC projects since 2000.
